This is a sustainable product. Fish-leather is a by-product of the fishing industry in Iceland, produced by up-cycling raw material that would not be used otherwise and using renewable hydro and geothermal energy.

The lining is from leather off-cuts from our studio or from other brands/designer, bits that would not be used otherwise. We don’t send anything to waste.

Fish leather has a natural cross-fibre structure, unlike cattle leather for instance, in which the fibres only run in one direction. This natural cross-fibre pattern makes fish leather stronger than "ordinary" leathers, when compared with the same thickness of leather.

Fish-leather ages beautifully!

Normal leather-cleaning methods are suitable for fish leather.

Slight imperfections in the leathers may occasionally appear (scars, growth markings, difference of colour or texture, etc.) they are not flaws, they are typical features of natural leathers that identify each piece as a uniquely beautiful product.
